Augmented Reality Framework for Museum Exhibits

Overview

In partnership with SimentIT and the Canadian Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) in Ottawa, this project developed a cloud-based mobile augmented reality platform for museum exhibits. The system enables real-time 3D object recognition and pose estimation under challenging and variable museum lighting conditions. The technology was deployed in CSTM’s “Artifact Alley”, where visitors experience a barrier-free and natural AR experience overlaid on physical artifacts.
