NSERC CRD Award: 3D Object Recognition for Museum Exhibits

Dr. Naimul Khan, Dr. Ling Guan, and Dr. Andy Ye have been awarded a $375,000 NSERC Collaborative Research and Development Grant in partnership with SimentIT Inc.

This two-year project will develop novel 3D object recognition and tracking algorithms for museum augmented reality exhibits. The technology will be deployed at the newly renovated Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa, enabling visitors to experience interactive AR overlays on physical artifacts.
